Take a trip into the softer side of Ty Showers with one of his latest slow jam tracks, 'Think Of Me'. Classified as r&b, mellow, quiet storm, and contemplative this track does is essential for those of us who may be lonely and missing that special someone.
Beginning with an almost classical sounding piano intro, immediately followed by the smooth crooning of Showers himself, 'Think Of Me' is a step in a new direction from Showers, who up until recent weeks, has rarely recorded tracks with a more customary song arrangement. However, staying true to his usual musical oddities, the lyrics act as more of a guide through the melodic journey of sorts rather than telling an actual story or narrative in terms of the true meaning behind the song.
Seemingly written from the perspective of a man who simply wants to be thought of by a love that he, for some reason, can't presently be near, this track promotes the longevity of longing. Rather than offering some highly metaphorical, temporary 'I'm always here' type of message, Showers instead focuses on the fact that sometimes merely thinking of a loved one can help diffuse feelings of longing. Cleverly flecked with lyric-free musical breaks as well as repetition of the refrain, 'think of me', this track literally gives listeners a guided musical vision, encouraging them to think of the person they are missing most.
Above all, this track is simply intended to let music lovers know that it's OK to think of those they miss. We live in a world in which experiencing any off-putting emotion is typically frowned upon and/or discouraged altogether. 'Think Of Me' is here to let us all know that missing someone is not only OK, it's sometimes all you can do to keep your sanity.
