On a sensual album like Just One Last with its provocative cover art and several smoldering tunes on the playlist, the title here is bound to sound like the second half of an erotic exchange: OK, you did me, now it’s your turn. Listeners who want to lie back and be treated could do worse. The tune is indeed a treat; starting as a quiet shuffle, with a languid bass over a shaker that sounds like it’s sanding off the rough edges of your day. Add piano and echoey horn accents and let the drums push you along.

Eminently listenable, “Now You” opens up a simple, pleasurable groove and lets you settle in. It’s tasty. One of the things Ty Showers does as well as anybody is hold something back. He has patience; no need to impress anyone.

Only rarely does he need to take a riff or a solo to its limit. Here, he waits until near the end of the tune and cuts loose on a synth-guitar run that, in the context of such a relaxed feel, has an edge and a soaring quality that lifts the tune up and shakes it out, even as it goes to the fade. At a pop-song length of 3:12, it’s more like the snatches of conversation you might have between waking up, taking a shower, and heading out the door, and less like the longer, dramatic stories suggested by some extended tunes on this album.
